Its integrated plywood platform allows for clamping or fastening the jig to a worksurface as well as clamping workpieces in position for mortising. With a MortiseMate carbide-tipped cutter installed in your corded or cordless drill and its depth collar set to the mortise depth you need, boring a mortise is as easy as running the drill at full speed and swinging MortiseMate's handle to the left and right, repeatedly, to cut the mortise to width. Its exclusive auto-indexing step-down mechanism also advances the cutter deeper into the workpiece by 1/16'' (0.050'') per pass until the full mortise depth is reached. A pair of micro-adjustment screws let you adjust the width of the mortise as desired for a tighter fit with Kreg's 6mm, 8mm or 10mm hardwood loose tenons (#76762, #76416 or #72391, sold separately).
